China's Flooring Rise

Imported & Questioned 1
Imported & Questioned 2
1987–2000

Imported & Questioned

PVC flooring first entered China, used only in top-tier hospitals in first-tier cities. Public perception was that plastic flooring was cheap and toxic.

Domestic Birth & Validation 1

2001–2008

Domestic Birth & Validation

China introduced production lines for domestic PVC flooring. Beijing Olympics venues and post-earthquake school reconstruction proved PVC safety for healthcare and education.

National Standards & Upgrades 1

2009–2018

National Standards & Upgrades

National standards mandated elastic, anti-slip, antibacterial flooring in schools, hospitals, and elderly facilities. Low-quality producers were eliminated.

National Trust & Global Leadership 1

2019–2026

National Trust & Global Leadership

The pandemic drove antibacterial flooring in medical settings. Dual-carbon policies boosted domestic high-end PVC flooring, making China the world's largest producer and exporter.

From "questioned & import-dependent" to "domestic replacement & global leadership" — PVC flooring has shed its low-end label to become the mainstream green, safe flooring for modern public, commercial, and residential spaces.
