Mainstream flooring was stone, cement, terrazzo, and hardwood — hard but slippery, unsanitary, and unsuitable for modern public spaces.
Birth of PVC Flooring
In 1926, Germany developed PVC polymer material. The first flexible, waterproof, and wear-resistant resilient flooring was created.
Widespread Adoption in West
Europe, US, and Japan completed flooring upgrades — hospitals, schools, subways, and elderly facilities fully replaced hard surfaces.
Global Green Maturity
